About

Lorenzo Villani is an italian artist born in 1996, based in reggio emilia, attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna, obtaining a Bachelor’s Degree in Painting with a thesis exploring the psychology of portraiture and self-portraiture, and a Master’s Degree in Visual Arts with a thesis on AI and its applications in the world of art from both an artistic and critical point of view.

His study starts from the Italian Renaissance artistic tradition and creates fusions and contrasts with the scientific and technological fields. Using innovative means such as artificial intelligence and biological organisms, he brings to light new critical perspectives in the interpretation of contemporary life. He focuses on the effects that artificial intelligence has on the world we live in, developing works that reflect the various limitations and critical issues of these technologies. In these works, the glorious past of the Italian Renaissan ce is compared to the monotonous and less splendid con temporary world, which has a disturbing charm, creating new visions of unlikely but never impossible scenarios
